Belt and Road Initiative, Brings More Opportunities and Various Potential Legal Problems

Wang Yi, Chinese Foreign Minister answered questions regarding Chinese Belt and Road Initiative at the fifth session of the 12th National People¡¯s Congress in Beijing on March 8, 2017.

 

According to Wang, Belt and Road Initiative comes from China but belongs to the whole world, and its benefits will be shared by all countries. The Belt and Road Initiative policy has become the most popular international public product and it will promote the international economic cooperation, and will rebalance the whole economic framework.

 

The Belt and Road forum will be held at Beijing on May 14 and 15; over 20 heads of states and over 50 leaders of international organizations, together with more than 100 representatives of ministerial-level and over 1200 other guests from all over the world will participate in the forum. The forum will deal with three major matters. First is to design the whole structure of international cooperation on the basis of complementary advantages and development strategies connection of various countries. Second, the countries will finalize some major cooperation projects in some key areas. Last but not least, the countries will put forward cooperation initiatives on a medium and long term basis to build a closer international relation network.

 

However, with the implementation of Belt and Road Initiative, enterprises are given more opportunities but are troubled by various legal problems at the same time. Enterprises need to pay more attention to the legal problems within the matters of intellectual property protection, tax, investment, resources, foreign exchange, environment, labor, insurance, international trade, etc. while investing outside of China.
