DetailsThe 25th APEC Economic Leaders Meeting was held in Da Nang, Vietnam on November 10 and 11, 2017. Under the theme “Creating New Dynamism, Fostering a Shared Future”, the Da Nang declaration “Creating new dynamism, fostering a shared future” was approved by the leaders of APEC.
In the declaration, the leaders recommitted the common purpose of fostering a shared future of a peaceful, stable, dynamic, inter-connected and prosperous Asia-Pacific community and intended to take actions to achieve the common goals. First is to promote the innovative growth, inclusion and sustainable employment. Second is to create new drivers for regional economic integration. Third is to strengthen the capacity and innovation of MSMEs. Fourth, enhance food security and sustainable agriculture in response to climate change. And last, foster a shared future.
Chinese President Xi Jinping attended the meeting and remarked on economic globalization at the meeting. He addressed that the globalization has contributed substantially to the global growth for decades and is now irreversible. He said innovation is the most important driving force to promote economic development and an open economy can benefit the global development, especially the free trade communication among Asian-Pacific areas. Xi also emphasized the inclusive and balanced economic cooperation, the peaceful development and shared future.
With China’s economy rising and foreign policy clear, China is playing a leading role as the world’s second largest economy. We believe that the Belt and Road Initiative would create a broader and more dynamic platform for Asia-Pacific cooperation and contribute more to the global development.
